Dear Future Participants of KarMUN 2021,

Although we are beyond excited to bring KarMUN 2021 to you in its usual form, we do acknowledge that the pandemic might override some of our plans.

At present (as of September 2020) we are hopeful that the situation in March will be ideal for holding an international conference. However, we must abide by the regulations placed by the Hungarian government.

As of now the following restrictions are in place:

  • Border crossing for non-Hungarian citizens is prohibited.
  • Events hosting over 500 people cannot be held. (Yet KarMUN does not host more than 500 people, in our School District all events are cancelled.)

Even though we remain hopeful that these regulations will be lifted by the time of the conference, as faster and reliable test kits are nearing completion and vaccines are being developed, a few things must be mentioned in light of the situation:

  • We are going to extend the payment deadline for as long as we can in order to avoid inconveniences in case of a possible cancellation. Also, we are going to make all our contracts so that we can roll them back as late as possible, but unfortunately we cannot make any promises about any last minute changes. However we certainly wish to avoid last year's scenario, when the conference was cancelled one week prior to the date.
  • Due to the uncertainty of the situation, we are unable to guarantee that every delegation who applies for housing will be provided one. Families might not be comfortable with welcoming students from abroad into their homes, therefore we recommend you to be prepared for multiple scenarios, such as the potential necessity of having to stay in a hotel near the school. We will be more than happy to help you find the most suitable accommodation in case of such a situation. Be that as it may, early bird application will definitely be an advantage in the housing process.

We greatly encourage you to register for our conference and keep an eye on our website for the latest updates regarding the situation. We would be delighted to see you in March!
