CLIMATE ACTION SUMMIT
The Climate Action Summit possesses traits of both a conventional, resolution-developing, climate-focused committee and a crisis solving committee, which requires delegates to think, adopt, compromise and make decisions on the spot.
It is based on the United Nations Climate Action Summit held in New York, september 2019 with the motto ” A Race We Can Win. A Race We Must Win.” At the summit sixty countries announced steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support populations most vulnerable to the climate crisis with the aim of keeping the mean global temperature from rising by more than 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) above preindustrial levels.
Delegates will be expected to pass a resolution by the end of the first day containing the goals and actions to be taken to achieve the summit’s overall goal. On the following two days they will be acting out sessions as if several years had passed since the previous day, and discussing further steps necessary, taking into consideration how much of the resolution the participating countries have already implemented based on their policies as well as economic, sociological and environmental needs and resources.
